  1. Dearest IDA,

I was extremely excited when I came accross your website. I suffer from a neurological disease called (Syringomyelia). It is a fluid filled cavity in the spinal cord that causes damage to the nerves it comes in contact with. Mine starts at c5 and extends through T10. I can’t discribe the severity of the pain it causes. It’s like the worse tooth ache pain, only it’s coming from the center of my body and through out my nervousystem.

I have been through so much humiliation due to people telling me it’s all in my head, and how they’ve seen others in wheelchairs who are working and going out enjoying their lives and I choose to sit home and feel sorry for myself. They say things like” God helps those who help themselves!. I have lost my husband of 25 years because he could’nt stand watching me in pain and going to Dr.’s and taking so many different medications! Infact, he accused me of being a pill popper. I knew I had to leave right there and then. I am now living alone and am very depressed and afraid because I am on the way to being homeless.
